CANTERBURY BRASS
Renowned for its polished sound and virtuosic style, the Canterbury Brass have been setting standards in brass chamber music for nearly 15 years. Ever since their first International tour, during the summer of 1996, the Canterbury Brass have continued to receive rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for their concerts and master classes throughout the United States and abroad.

While attending the Indiana University School of Music, the Quintet competed in and won several of the major U.S. chamber music competitions, including: First Place in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (1997), First Place at the New York Brass Conference Quintet Competition (1997), Semi-finalist in the Concert Artists' Guild Competition (1997) and Honorable Mention at the Coleman Chamber Music Competition (1995). The Canterbury Brass have been guest artists of the Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Sinfonia Gulf Coast, the International Women’s Brass Conference, the Kankakee Community College Concert Series, the Headmaster Series CHCA, the Yellowsprings Concert Series, and in 1996 were invited to replace the world famous Canadian Brass on a concert tour and recording project with the former Star of Indiana.

Dedicated to the performance of new music, the Quintet has premiered and recorded many new works for brass quintet and can be heard on various compact discs, including Brass Theater III and Encounters. In 2003, after numerous requests, the Quintet recorded a Christmas CD titled, Canterbury Brass: Carols of the Season, and has plans to record a second Christmas album in the near future. All of the Canterbury Brass discs have been praised for their energy, sound, and style.

The members of the Canterbury Brass come from all areas of the country and have performed with many of the world’s great orchestras and music festivals, including: the Cincinnati Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, the Houston Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, the Columbus Symphony, the Dayton Philharmonic, the New World Symphony, the Cincinnati Ballet, the West Virginia Symphony, the Louisville Orchestra, the Naval Academy Band, the President’s Own Marine Band, the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute, the Music Academy of the West, and the Peninsula Music Festival.
